Cloudland Canyon Waterfall

Cloudland Canyon State Park's Waterfall is beautiful and very near to my house. The park is one of the most visited in the Southeast.

Bear Creek Hike

Purple-Our path down Bear Creek

A few summers ago a couple of friends and I hiked off of Lookout Mountain by way of Bear Creek. It is a trek that very few people have made where I come from. Not only is the starting point on private property, but the terrain is very treacherous. 2000 feet of descent in less than two miles means many waterfalls and rocks. We spent the night, perched halfway down, drinking moonshine and catching crawdads to cook. It was a great time but when were picked up in civilization the first thing we did was get fast food and go to sleep on the soft leather seats of my mother's Volvo.
